William Sawyer, DO

William Sawyer, DO is the only fellowship trained corneal specialist in Northeast Arkansas. Dr. Sawyer specializes in cataract and refractive surgery and is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal and ocular infections. He brings corneal transplantation to northeast Arkansas, restoring vision and hope. Dr. Sawyer has gained experience and compassion during his training and medical mission trips to San Ignacio, Belize.
Dr. Sawyer graduated from the University of North Texas Health Science Center- Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, TX. He was the president of the Internal Medicine Club. Dr. Sawyer served his ophthalmology residency at the Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Before medical school, Dr. Sawyer graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in biochemistry from Abilene Christian University, in Abilene, Texas.
Since his time in residency, Dr. Sawyer has been an active member in many professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, American Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 Dr. Sawyer received the Patrick Murray award; recognition for high Ophthalmology exam scores among osteopathic physicians in the United States.
Dr. Sawyer and his wife Natalie live in Jonesboro with their four sons. Dr. Sawyer enjoys hunting, fishing and golf
